All of us at Leezas Care Connection proved once again that we know how to party with a purpose! Our annual Dare2Care gala was held at the USC Alumni Center and was filled with inspiration and gratitude.

This year's Dare2Lead honoree was Senator Katrina Shealy, who was recognized for her personal journey as an Alzheimer's caregiver to her husband, as well as her leadership in the state's new Alzheimer's plan and championing SC as an Alzheimer's research and resource center. Her poignant comments moved many in the audience to tears.

Featured guests and treasured friends included WIS-TV star anchor Judi Gatson, the legendary "hall of fame" broadcaster Joe Pinner, last year's Dare2Lead awardee Jennifer Clyburn Reed, and our own Tony Clyburn and Dr. Macie Smith.

Guests entered the center to the joyful sounds of the John Lakin & Friends choir, and the music for the evening was provided by the ever-popular Reggie Sullivan Band.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go to support the mission and programs of Leezas Care Connection, a free resource center on St. Andrews Road. TV personality and health advocate Leeza Gibbons created the center to offer family caregivers a way to answer the question "Now What" when someone they love gets a diagnosis of a chronic illness or disease.
